Combining equal parts robotics, science-fiction, comics and interactive storytelling, the Space.com VEX Robotics Botshop was a unique brand-entrenchment experience.
Brand-entrenchment is the concept of subtly including branding for a product or service within an unrelated interactive experience. In the case of this highly-visual experience, users built a unique and personalized robot by choosing parts, colors and a backdrop. After completion, the user could either print the creation or share it with a friend via email – which encouraged viral sharing possibilities.
From a technical perspective, The Mechanism enhanced the visual experience outlined by the client in early meetings and designed, illustrated and programmed a simple, programmatically streamlined combination of visual and adventure game elements to build a highly-successful final product for the Space.com team and their project sponsors at VEX Robotics.
